How do I get a home improvement show to pick my house?

my fiance and i recently purchased a house that needs some renovation. We love watching home improvement shows on channels such as HGTV and wanted to know how they pick their project houses. We need to renovate our dining room and kitchen and would love our renovations to be one of their projects.
Does anyone know if you can contact them and submit your project or if they just rely on location scouts?

they nearly always pick a sob story to do a make over on
send them a pleading letter and see if it works
