The Motorola Admiral has went on sale October 23 through direct sales channels, telesales, and online. It will be widely available starting November 13. The price of the smartphone is $99.99 with a two-year contract and after a $50 mail-in rebate, according to the carrier.
The Motorola Admiral supports Sprint’s next-gen Direct Connect push-to-talk service, which operates on the carrier’s 3G CDMA network instead of Nextel’s iDEN network. The advantage of the new service is faster data speeds, and Sprint plans to phase out iDEN in 2013. By working with Sprint’s CDMA 3G network, the Admiral provides the gold-standard push-to-talk capabilities of Sprint Direct Connect.
